John 10:10
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”
There is a reason I read the Bible over and over and over.
It’s because I need the messages over and over and over.
Our brains run on autopilot.
They keep talking to us even when we are consciously done listening.
And they are often not saying the right things to us.
They speak unkind and untruthful words to us which can keep us from serving as God intended.
It is up to us to put the right information in to gain the proper outcome and results.
Those results show up in our attitude, our daily activities, and even our abilities.
So, I needed to read our passage today.
I needed to read what Jesus said.
He said, “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy.”
So, if there is any destruction in our lives, it is the enemy.
If we are thinking unfruitful thoughts, it is the enemy.
If fear has its grip on us in any way, it is the enemy.
The enemy will keep us downtrodden, downcast, afraid, and immobilized.
However, Jesus also said, “I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”
All good things come from the Lord.
The word enjoy means with joy.
The Lord intends for us to have joy.
He also desires abundance for us.
Abundance in Him.
He desires connection with us so He can fill us to the brim and to overflowing with His Spirit.
I certainly needed this reminder today as we feel the chaos around us.
I need His Spirit to continually feed mine.
As I keep my focus on Him, my mind turns to the beautiful.
Today I choose to believe the Lord desires to fill my spirit with joy and abundance in Him.
May you find the Lord is filling your spirit with joy and that you will be filled to overflowing with His Holy Spirit.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for reminding me You are the God of abundant joy and that You fill our hearts to overflowing with Your Holy Spirit. Thank You, Father, for these wonderful promises Your Son taught so long ago. As the darkness of this world pervade so much of what we see and hear, You promise Light and Love and Mercy. You cover us in Your Peace where there is unrest. You cover us in grace where there is so much unkindness. May Your mercy flow over all the lives of Your people. May Your healing Spirit be upon the broken hearts of this world, Lord. And may Your joy fill our spirits this day. Ready me for Your service and help me be obedient to Your call. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM the God of peace, mercy, grace, and love, and I fill the hearts of My people with My Spirit.
Response: May Your Spirit be upon all Your people this day, Father.
