Luke 4:18-19
“The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the good news to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity],”
“To proclaim the accepted year of the Lord [the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound.”
Jesus was just starting His ministry as He was reading aloud in the Temple and proclaiming Himself as the Messiah.
I was so very encouraged by His words today.
It was as if He was speaking those same words to me right now.
God’s promises are for all people and for all time.
Jesus announced the coming of salvation to His people.
He also announced He was sent to release the captives, heal the blind, deliver the broken and bruised and crushed.
He came to deliver the people from bondage – spiritual bondage.
He came to set us all free.
He came to restore relationship with Him and His Father, our God.
He came to heal.
Heal the blind and sick.
And His healing power resides in us today.
He came to restore the broken.
Bless the broken.
Give all good things to the broken, the downtrodden, the bruised, crushed.
That would be all of us.
He came to bless us all.
The Amplified Bible defines the “year of the Lord”
to be “the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound”.
Salvation and free favors.
These are such wonderful things to think about and reflect upon.
The Lord gives us eternity with Himself.
The Lord desires to give us favor.
So, instead of carrying the bruises and burdens, we can exchange those things for God’s love and favor.
Today I choose to receive the blessings, salvation, and favor the Lord desires to give me because He sent His Son to make it so.
May you find the Lord desires to lift you up, deliver you from all captivity and oppression, and shower you with His blessings and favor.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for reminding me You sent Your Son to release me from captivity and set me free. Thank You for showing me that Jesus came to grant me healing and deliver me from oppression and calamity. As the chaos of this world continues, may Your peace settle in my heart. Help me fix my eyes on the beauty around me instead of the calamity. May You renew my spirit and fill me with joy as I do what You ask of me, Lord. Help me serve You with joy and love. May Your gentle whispers warm my spirit like the soothing breezes of summer. May I stand before You as perfect through the blood of Your Son. Help me receive Your peace. Strengthen me, Lord, and help me live in the freedom You offer. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I sent My Son to give you all things beautiful My child.
