I Peter 5:6-7
Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you, Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.
It's interesting that casting our care comes second in this passage.
First, Peter tells us to humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand.
Then cast our care giving all our worries to the Lord.
It seems that holding onto our worries and concerns is a power thing.
The more we want to be in control, the tighter we hold onto things that we can likely do very little about.
We think we can, but we actually can’t.
There was a time when our family was struggling financially.
The more I worried, the more anxious I became.
It felt like there was a huge bus heading my way determined to run me over me every single day.
It was scary and it was constant.
However, when I gave our lack to the Lord, He started working in our circumstances.
As I saw Him working, my anxiety lessened.
It’s called surrender.
And it was constant.
Constant surrender because every day brought with it new cares and worries.
The better I became at surrendering, the more room I left for God to work.
I think this is what Peter writes about in our passage.
In order for God to work in our lives, we must give Him our cares, worries, and anxiety.
When we finally admit we cannot work our own problems out, He will step in and show us just how magnificent He is.
He is more than magnificent, and He cares for us perfectly.
Today I choose to surrender my worries to the Lord and allow Him to work out all things for my good and His glory.
May you find you are able to surrender your concerns and anxiety to the Lord and allow Him room to work wonders in your life.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for working in all the circumstances of our lives. Thank You for taking better care of us than we could ever take care of ourselves. Help us fully surrender to You, Lord. Help us surrender our worries, anxiety, and concerns and give it all to You. You are the One Who can work out all things for our good and Your glory. May we leave our burdens at Your feet and exchange them for Your peace. May Your peace flood our souls today. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I AM the great I AM, and I AM working in all the details of your life. Trust in Me.
Response: Increase our faith in You, almighty and all-powerful God. In Jesus’ name, amen.
