Children of God

John 1:11-12
“He came to that which belonged to Him, and they who were His own did not receive Him and did not welcome Him.”
“But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name.”
We are blessed to be chosen to know God.
Blessed to be His children.
Our passage says we are privileged to be His children.
And I agree.
Even God’s own people did not receive His Son.
As we prepare our hearts and minds for Jesus’ crucifixion and celebrate His resurrection, let us be thankful that God has called us to Himself.
Thankful He sent His Son for us.
And thankful we are His.
The last part of our passage says this privilege is for those who believe in God.
It’s for those who adhere to, trust in, and rely on His name.
During these times, it is easy to become distressed.
However, I believe we can look to our passage and be strengthened inwardly if we take action accordingly.
First, we can adhere ourselves or fuse ourselves to God.
Attach ourselves to God Almighty.
We are strengthened through His power and might.
Second, we can trust Him instead of trusting in the world.
Third, we can rely on God.
We can put our confidence in Him instead of putting our confidence in the world or ourselves.
Proverbs 3:5 says, “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.”
God is our Rock.
Our Defender.
Our Fortress and High Tower.
We can adhere to Him, trust Him, and rely on Him.
Today I am thankful the Lord has called me to be His child and choose to lean into Him and have confidence in Him.
May you find thankfulness in being God’s child and may you lean into Him as He holds you steady through the storms of life.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for choosing me to know You. Thank You for making a way for me to be called Your child. Thank You for sending Your Son to deliver me from my sins so that I can be called one of Yours. Lord, help me fully lean into You, adhere to You, and trust You no matter what my circumstances look like. I know that You are working in all the details of my life. You never sleep nor slumber. Your hand is upon me and the family You have given me. May You continue to watch over, protect, and provide for our household. Father, help me look to You today for all I need. Help me hear Your gentle whispers and strengthen me to walk in obedience to You. May Your will be done. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM watching over you and your household My child and I AM taking care of all your needs.
Response: Thank You, most gracious and Almighty God.
