Daily Word:
John 16:1-2
“I have told you all these things, so that you should not be offended (taken unawares and falter, or be caused to stumble and fall away).”
“They will put you out of (expel you from ) the synagogues; but an hour is coming when whoever kills you will think and claim that he has offered service to God.”
Jesus told His disciples many things before He gave us His life on the cross.
He gave them words to live by.
He gave them words to keep them safe.
He gave them instructions that would help them live a Godly life.
And He gave them words to follow that would be needed in the future.
His teachings are magnificent.
His teachings are timeless.
We can just as easily learn them and hold fast to them today as His disciples did over two thousand years ago.
There may be even more meaning to them today because we know the end of the story.
The verses I read today are so very relevant to what we are currently experiencing and will experience.
Jesus said that He told His disciples all the things He did so that they would not be caught unaware of what would happen.
So that they wouldn’t falter.
So that they wouldn’t fall away.
I needed to read His words today.
I needed to read them to be encouraged.
I needed to read them to remind me that all things must happen so that He can fight and win the battle of all battles.
I needed to read them to remind me to stay strong and not falter or fall away.
And I needed to be reminded that people are doing what they are doing because they think they are doing it in the Name of the Lord.
Jesus said, they aren’t.
He said they do not know Him or the Father.
So, I pray.
I pray that God would strengthen me to withstand all that I must go through and still remain close to Him.
I pray for all people, everywhere.
I pray that eyes will be opened, and hearts will be softened.
I pray that God will fill the world with His Holy Spirit so that we are truly guided by Him.
Today I choose to believe that Jesus’ words will pierce my heart through and strengthen me to stand strong.
May you find that the Lord will strengthen you to stand strong and keep you from stumbling or faltering.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for Your Word. Thank You for Jesus’ words that bring clarity and wisdom to my mind and soul. Strengthen me, Lord, so that I do not falter or fall away. Help me do all that I can do to be strong and not waiver in my mind. Strengthen me to face everything that I will face and remain steadfast to You. May Your peace be upon me and my household. May You watch over and protect us. Lead and guide us in all that we do. Keep us in Your care, Father. Keep us Yours. As You strengthen us, may we go out and help others. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: You and your household are Mine, sayeth the Lord.
Response: Undeservedly Yours, Lord, thank You.
