Mark 11:22-24
“And Jesus, replying, said to them, Have faith in God [constantly].”
“Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! And does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him.”
“For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].”
Jesus was teaching His disciples how to be successful in prayer.
He said to “Have faith in God [constantly].”
There are times when my faith is strong, and I believe the Lord can do anything.
Then there are times I don’t feel so strong.
Jesus said to continually have faith, so I need to work the faith muscle until it becomes stronger than my unbelief.
How do we intentionally work to increase our faith?
First, we can search for scripture that relates to God’s promises.
When I read about His promises, I am filled with joy and my faith is strengthened to new heights.
Second, we can recite scripture until our hearts and minds start believing in the miracle working power of the Lord.
Our brains are so intricately wired.
If we constantly put the right words and thoughts in our minds, our belief and faith will follow.
Third, I take time to pray the Lord will increase my faith and I believe He will answer my request.
Lastly, I spend some time in God’s presence allowing Him to minister to my spirit.
These are all very intentional activities which help increase my faith.
Jesus cautioned the disciples about something that would prevent the Lord from answering our prayers.
He told them not to doubt.
He told them to believe in what they pray for and it will be done for them.
I love the last verse in our passage.
Jesus said, “For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].”
His words are powerful and ones we should try to fully understand because they lead us to the promised land here on earth.
The more we understand Him and put His words into action, the more we will operate in God’s power.
Today I choose to believe the Lord is answering my prayers and that He will increase my faith as I have asked Him to do.
May you find the Lord is powerful and is answering your prayers because you ask with conviction knowing He is listening to you.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for showing me more about operating in Your power through prayer. Thank You for sending Your Son to teach me how to pray effectively. Please put an extra measure of faith in my heart. I also pray You will help me know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that You desire to come to my aid and grant me the desires of my heart. Help me be intentional about asking You for things I need and help me believe that Your help is on its way. Keep me in Your Word learning of You and Your ways. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I desire to bless you and give you the desires of your heart, My child.
Response: You are most gracious and merciful, Lord, God Almighty.
