God Chose the Lowly

Luke 10:21
“In that same hour He rejoiced and gloried in the Holy Spirit and said, I thank You, Father, Lord of heavens and earth, that You have concealed these things [relating to salvation] from the wise and understanding and learned, and revealed them to the babes (the childish, unskilled, and untaught). Yes, Father, for such was Your gracious will and choice and good pleasure.”
Jesus prayed this prayer.
Jesus, the One Who had chosen His disciples from among the laborers of the day, thanked God for allowing the poor and uneducated to see the secrets of heaven.
He thanked His Father for purposefully choosing to conceal these secrets from the learned and well-educated people of the day.
Once again, I am reminded of God’s ways.
God’s ways are so different than ours.
Actually, opposite of ours.
In days past only royalty was educated.
And they weren’t taught as we are these days.
They were taught by private tutors.
No expense was spared on their education while most commoners did not even know how to read.
The royals have always received the best of everything.
But God chose differently.
He chose the unlearned of the day to show His Son to.
He chose the unskilled men to see the secret of salvation.
The educated priests and scribes were blinded to Jesus’ glory.
Can you imagine being so close to the Kingdom of God and then missing it?
I am sure there are days I miss it too.
But I am thankful for the days I don’t.
Thankful for the days the Lord shows me more of Himself.
Thankful for God’s presence in my spirit.
And thankful He chose me to know Him and worship Him.
Of course, we know God’s plan is for everyone to draw close to Him and accept His love.
But two thousand years ago, He did not choose the rich, the royal, and the already influencers to know Him.
Perhaps if He had, we wouldn’t know Him today.
Perhaps His grace would have only been known by the elite.
Today I am thankful the Lord chose me to come close to Him and know Him.
May you find the Lord draws you to Himself and welcomes you into His royal family.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for calling me to You even though I have no rank on this earth. Thank You for allowing the lowly to know You. You could have chosen only the elite, but You chose us all. Thank You for compassing my heart and my spirit with Your love. Thank You for loving me past my faults and failures. Thank You, Father, for making me perfect in Your sight. Help me walk through this day with Your blessings, grace, and favor. Go before me and make all things ready for me to do Your will, Father. Strengthen me in every way to serve You. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: You are Mine, sayeth the Lord and I take pleasure in drawing you close to Me.
Response: Thank You, most gracious and merciful God.
