Mark 14:14-15
“And whatever [house] he enters, say to the master of the house, The Teacher says: Where is My guest room, where I may eat the Passover [supper] with My disciples?”
“And he will show you a large upper room, furnished [with carpets and with dining couches properly spread] and ready; there prepare for us.”
The disciples asked Jesus where they were to go and prepare the Passover supper.
They didn’t know it would be The Last Supper with Jesus.
They didn’t know their King would soon be crucified.
But Jesus did.
Here’s what struck me as I read this passage today: Jesus knew how close to the cross He was and yet He wasn’t scurrying around trying to make all the preparations ready for a very important Last Supper.
When asked where the disciples were to prepare this meal, He told them exactly where to find everything already ready.
Someone had prepared a guest room with “carpets and with dining couches properly spread”.
The preparations had been taken care of by God, His Father.
I started thinking about all the big occasions of my life and how I’ve worried and hurried through them.
And I saw that I need to remember God is taking care of me as well.
He’s made all the preparations ready for the little and big occasions of my life.
I don’t need to worry and scurry around trying to do all the things by myself.
I don’t need to lose sleep wondering how all the things will get done.
I simply need to know He has it all worked out.
He has worked out the where’s, how’s, and even the when’s of everything He has determined I will do.
Today I choose to believe in His ability to make all things ready to do what He asks me to do.
May you find the Lord has made all things ready for you as well.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for making all things ready. Thank You for working out all the details of my life. You are in all the small things and the big things. You have a plan, and You are bigger than the mountains I see standing in the way of Your plan. They are not mountains in Your eyes but are small sand piles easily moved by You. Help me lean into You, Lord. Help me lean on You instead of trying to do all the things by myself. May I rest in Your peace knowing You are leading, guiding, and directing me. May I rest in the assurance You are making all things ready. Help me follow You, Lord. Do not let me make my own plans and stray from Yours. Keep me close within Your grasp. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM working out all things for your good and My glory, My child.
Response: Help me walk peacefully and powerfully into Your plan, Father.
