Daily Word:
Luke 5:6 and 8
“And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish; and as their nets were [at the point of] breaking,”
“But when Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying Depart from me, for I am a sinful man O Lord.”
We know this story well.
Jesus had told Simon to put his nets back in the water and they would be filled up completely.
Simon told Jesus that they had been working all night and had caught nothing, but he would throw the nets in one more time.
When Simon saw the miracle working power that had happened, he became afraid.
He knew that the miraculous was in his midst.
He felt unworthy.
He felt incapable.
He felt overwhelmed.
He told Jesus that he was too sinful to deserve this and asked Him to leave.
I, too, have had all of these feelings.
Unworthy.
Incapable.
Too sinful to be used.
But Jesus has a plan.
He recognized Simon’s response as fear.
He told Simon (Peter), the man whom the rock of Christianity would be built upon to, “Have no fear”.
Jesus knew what Simon (Peter) would eventually become and do.
He knew his eventual fate.
And Jesus knows what He will have us do as well.
He knows our fate.
He knows how He will use us.
So, I ask Him to point out my fears and help me move through them to become and do all that He has for me to do.
Today I choose to give my life in God’s hands to use as He deems fit and ask that He calm my fears and lead and guide me into His perfect plan.
May you find that the Lord has great plans for you and that He will equip you in all ways.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for showing me that even the great men in the Bible that You used for Your great purpose were afraid and felt unworthy. Thank You for each story and each outcome that I read about. Thank You for strengthening my faith and speaking to my spirit as I read Your Word. Thank You that I can freely read Your Word and freely worship You. Continue to strengthen me in every way so that I may serve You as You have planned. Help me not shy away from Your perfect plan. Ready me for Your service and help me serve with joy. As these days become tedious and the restrictions become more rigid, I pray that You lift my spirit to You and allow me to sit in Your presence for a few precious moments. Help me feel the freedom that only You can provide through the gift of Your Son. Thank You for choosing me to know You, Father. Thank You for teaching me and growing me up in You. I ask for more wisdom - as much as You will give - me so that I can complete my tasks here on earth as Your servant. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM readying you to do My work and will equip you in every way.
Response: I trust in You, Lord, and pray that You calm every fear and lead me in Your work.
