John 15:9
“I have loved you, [just] as the Father has loved Me; abide in My love [continue in His love with Me].”
Jesus is giving His disciples some last words of encouragement and truths.
As I read our verse today, my heart melted.
Jesus told His disciples that He loved them.
Not just loved them.
He loved them as much as God loved Jesus.
We know that God Almighty loved His Son with an immeasurable amount of love.
I know I cannot fathom how much that is.
My mind cannot fully comprehend the kind of love God has for His Son.
The One who would literally save all generations of all people.
When I read Jesus loved His disciples that much, I was taken aback.
I hadn’t really seen this verse in this light before.
As I pondered the meaning of it, I realized Jesus loves us that much as well.
He loves us as much as the Lord loves His Son.
If this was all I read and understood in a lifetime it would be more than enough understanding of God’s love to last a lifetime.
How fortunate are we to be loved more than we can imagine?
How fortunate are we to be loved by Christ, Himself?
Jesus said, “abide in My love [continue in His love with Me]”.
As we accept and are bathed in Jesus’ love, we are also enfolded in God’s love.
When love seems so absent in this world today, we have the blessed knowing we are truly loved by God and His Son.
Today I choose to receive the love Jesus and the Lord, God Almighty, have for me and am infinitely grateful to understand it in some small way as I am able.
May you find you can fully accept the love of our Lord Jesus and His Father, our God, and be bathed in their love all the days of your life.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You, for showing me more about the depth of Your love for me. Thank You for enlightening the words in Your Word so my understanding increases and my faith deepens. Thank You, Father, for sending Your Son to this earth and give His life for all people. Thank You for the love He showed us in His living here and leaving You. You enfold me in Your love and surround me with Your peace. As the chaos ensues around me You hold my heart in Your hands. Thank You, Father, for loving me more than I can possibly understand and reason in my mind. Allow my spirit to sit with You for a few precious moments, Lord, and be one with You. Help me soak up Your Wisdom, love, knowledge, and compassion. Ready me for Your service and help me do all that You ask me to do. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM with you, My child, and desire to spend time with you, always.
Response: Undeserving of Your time and attention, thank You, most gracious God and Father.
