If We Really Knew

Colossians 3:12-13
“Clothe yourselves therefore, as God’s own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are] purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper].”
If we really knew we were God’s child, chosen by Him, hand-picked, perfectly crafted by Him, who would we be?
How would we carry ourselves?
How would we think?
If we really knew how much God loves us.
God sacrificed a Son to make room for me and you to be His children.
I can’t imagine making that decision.
I can’t imagine allowing my first-born son to hang on a cross so that all my children would be able to come to me.
Especially knowing many wouldn’t.
God has a heart which knows no boundaries.
He loves fiercely.
He loves forever.
Knowing this, Paul tells us to put on mercy, be tenderhearted, and be humble.
He tells us to be kind and gentle and patient.
To have the kind of patience that allows us to endure whatever comes our way with a good temper.
Well, he’s convicted me.
How about you?
If we really knew Who loves us without reserve could we be more merciful, humble, tenderhearted, gentle, and patient?
Yes, in between a million mistakes.
Paul says, “And have clothed yourselves with the new [spiritual self], which is [ever in the process of being] renewed and remolded into [fuller and more perfect knowledge upon] knowledge after the image (the likeness) of Him Who created it.”
We are constantly learning and growing in the Lord as He does a work in us.
We need to give ourselves grace in this process.
Today I ask the Lord to help me put on mercy, a tender heart, a humble nature, a gentle spirit, and patience.
May you find the Lord loves you massively and will help you grow in mercy, tenderheartedness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for loving me more fiercely and abundantly than I have ever been loved. Thank You for thinking of me before this world was made and every day since. Thank You for making a way for me to be seen as perfect by You. Help me fully surrender myself to be fully loved by You. Enfolded in Your love, help me put on the cloak of mercy and the spirit of humility. Soften my will and give me a gentle spirit. Grant me a tender heart, Lord as well as patience. The kind of patience that will allow me to endure whatever comes with a thankful heart. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I have made you perfectly, My child, and I will grant you all you ask in My Name.
Response: May I be forever Yours, Lord. In Jesus Name, Amen.
