Luke 5:4-6
When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon (Peter), Put out into the deep [water], and lower your nets for a haul. And Simon (Peter) answered, Master, we toiled all night [exhaustingly] and caught nothing [in our nets]. But on the ground of Your word, I will lower the nets [again]. And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish; and as their nets were [at the point of] breaking.
Peter was weary.
He’d worked all night and had nothing to show for it.
He’d caught no fish to sell.
Then he listened to Jesus speak.
When Jesus finished speaking, He singled Peter out from the crowd and told him to try one more time.
Lower his fishing net one more time.
Peter was really tired by this time.
He’d already cleaned his net and was done for the day.
Well, at least in his mind he was done.
He whined for a moment but ultimately obeyed Jesus’ command.
His obedience reaped huge blessings as he caught an abundance of fish.
Many of us are tired and have done all we think we can do especially this time of year.
But the Lord is telling us to keep going.
He’s telling us to push in and keep going because tremendous blessings await.
This is when we step into the miraculous.
When our strength is gone, God steps in with a miracle.
When we fully surrender to Him, He is able to do what only He can do.
Today I choose to keep going even though I’m weary.
May you find you are able to do all that God asks you to do in His strength.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for Your Word that breathes life into our spirit. Thank You for encouraging us to keep going, keep trying, and keep pushing through to victory. Your message of perseverance comes at a time when we are weary, Lord. May You strengthen us in every way. Help us surrender to You and allow the space for Your miracle. May Your blessings flow, Lord. May You bless our hearts and the work of our hands this Christmas season. Keep our eyes on You and the precious gift of Your Son. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I will help you do all I ask you to do. Lean on Me, and My blessings will overflow.
Response: Strengthen us, Lord, and open our hearts to receive Your blessings, Father. In Jesus’ name, amen.
