Psalm 62:5-6, 11
“My soul, wait only upon God and silently submit to Him; for my hope and expectation are from him.”
“He only is my Rock and my Salvation; He is my Defense and my Fortress. I shall not be moved.”
“God has spoken once, twice have I heard this; that power belongs to God.”
David was talking to himself in this passage.
He was telling himself about the power of God.
Telling himself to wait on God.
Well, waiting isn’t always easy.
Many times, when I am waiting on God, I have an opportunity to complain.
Lots of things happen while we are waiting.
Some good and some not so good, or so it seems.
Discouragement can easily set in.
But isn’t that what the enemy wants?
He wants us to be discouraged in every area of our lives.
He wants us to give up on God.
Here’s the typical scenario.
In times of distress, we pray, and God gives us a Word of hope.
And for a moment we hang onto that hope.
Then circumstances around us turn bad and quickly rob us of the Word of hope we receive from God.
Doubt creeps in our soul and we start complaining.
But King David shows us something different.
He told himself to wait in silence and submit to God for his hope and expectation were from God.
He wrote that God alone was his Rock, his Defense, and his Fortress.
He remembers and recounts the Word he heard: “Power belongs to the Lord.”
When our minds start to falter, we can remember this too.
Our hope is in God for He is our Rock.
David wrote, “He is my Rock of unyielding strength and impenetrable hardness.”
There is nothing stronger or more powerful than our God.
David shows us our thoughts and words are crucial to remaining steadfast in our belief and hanging onto the hope God has given us.
When the enemy tries to steal that hope and belief, we can speak to ourselves as King David did and overcome the lies.
We are in control of our thoughts and words which open the gateway to God’s power in our hearts or close it.
Today I choose life-giving words to think and say about the power of God and watch and wait for Him to show Himself Almighty.
May you find your mind and heart are strengthened as you talk about the Almighty power of God.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for being the Almighty God that You are. Thank You for King David’s steadfast faith in You which shows me how to be strong and not faint in my mind. Lord, You are my Rock of unyielding strength. You are my Defense and my Fortress. Nothing can come against me while I am in Your care. Thank You for Your careful watch over me. Thank You for Your continued protection and provision. Thank You for making a way where there seems to be no way. There is nothing impossible for You. Continue to increase my belief and faith in You, Father. Keep me thinking about You all day long. Keep my eyes on You and not the circumstances of this world. You, alone, are God. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM the Great I AM, and I AM taking perfect care of you, My child.
Response: Thank You, Almighty God and Father. Amen
