Lord, Grant Me Patience

Luke 8:15
“But as for that [seed] in the good soil, these are [the people] who, hearing the word, hold it fast in a just (noble, virtuous) and worthy heart, and steadily bring forth the fruit with patience.”
Of course, this is the parable Jesus told of the sower who sowed seeds.
The part of our passage which touches my heart today is about steadily bringing “forth the fruit with patience.”
I’ve been in a hurry lately.
Moving too quickly.
Trying to stay ahead of the game we call life.
And I’m making mistakes.
So, when I read about patience, I knew the Lord was speaking to my heart.
He’s been telling me to slow down.
Just last night when I was washing the dishes, I cleaned up some dishes I’d set to soak earlier.
It was so easy to scrub them clean after they’d sat in water for a while.
And I thought to myself, some things are just easier with a little bit of time.
I love hearing God’s whispers and then finding confirmation in His Word.
Our passage tells us we will bear fruit with patience.
Every season of life provides growth for us.
With each new season we draw closer to the Lord, and we bear more and more fruit.
A newer apple tree produces between two and three hundred apples.
An older tree produces between seven and eight hundred apples.
Just like the apple tree our fruit multiplies over time.
We must not hurry ourselves.
Verse eight says, “some seed fell into good soil, and grew up and yielded a crop a hundred times [as great].”
We can expect to yield an amazing crop of faith, fruit, and maturity with patience.
Today I choose to give myself grace and slow down to allow the Lord to do His work in me so I can be used by Him as He designs.
May you find the Lord is working on you and in you to bring you into a fully mature relationship with Him.
Daily Word:
O Lord, my God, thank You for reminding me to slow down. Thank You for reminding me You are doing a good work in me. Lord, Your Son told the story about the seed that was sowed in fertile soil and brought forth a huge crop with patience. Help me be patient as I grow in You. Help me offer myself grace when I make mistakes. Help me take time to allow You to work in me. Don’t let me get out ahead of You. Help me rest in You and Your perfect plan. Help me enjoy each moment You offer me and not miss You. Don’t let me rush through these next days as we all prepare to celebrate Jesus’ birth. Help me keep this space in time holy, Lord. Keep my heart open to Your Holy Spirit and my eyes focused on You. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: My Spirit is within you, My child, and I AM doing a good work in you.
Response: Help me bend to Your will, Lord, and learn everything You desire to teach me.
