I Timothy 5:25
So also, good deeds are evident and conspicuous, and even when they are not, they cannot remain hidden [indefinitely].
Service is hard.
Whether we serve our families, serve in church, or serve in another capacity, the work of our hands is often difficult and sometimes feels unappreciated.
When we feel unappreciated, the desire to serve is lost.
Grumbling and complaining starts, and we dive into a deeper darker place.
In Colossians 3:23 Paul writes, “Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men.”
As the holiday season begins there is even more work to be done.
But if we look at what we do as service to the Lord, maybe our perspective can shift enough for us to enjoy the work and enter the season worshipfully instead of with resentment.
Paul addresses our worn-out and weary bodies and souls in many of his letters.
It seems there is a common thread in being human, or he wouldn’t have to encourage us ALL the time!
Galatians 6:9 “And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.”
I Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be firm (steadfast), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord [always being superior, excelling, doing more than enough in the service of the Lord], knowing and being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile [it is never wasted or to no purpose].”
II Thessalonians 3:13 “And as for you, brethren, do not become weary or lose heart in doing right [but continue in well-doing without weakening].”
Yes, let us be courageous and continue on doing and serving and offering our work up to the Lord.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, we come to You weary and worn and pray that You revive and restore our hearts and bodies. Strengthen us in every way so we can do all You ask of us. May we do everything unto You, Lord. Let us not look for the reward here on earth but look to You instead. You, Father, are almighty God and Creator of the universe. May we serve You above all, and may our service honor You. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I AM with you to strengthen, comfort, and restore you so you can serve as I ask of you.
Response: May we receive Your strength, comfort, and restoration, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
