Confidence and Trust in God
Luke 18:42-43
“And Jesus said to him, Receive your sight! Your faith (your trust and confidence that spring from your faith in God) has healed you.”
“And instantly he received his sight and began to follow Jesus recognizing, praising, and honoring God; and all the people, when they saw it, praised God.”
I love the story about this man receiving his sight.
And maybe not for the obvious reason.
This man was reduced to begging in the streets.
A most uncomfortable life.
I would imagine most people in this situation would have but a few things on their minds.
Food, water, and shelter.
I would not have thought the man in our story would have had the confidence to believe Jesus would give him any attention at all.
But he did.
This man was sitting on the side of the road when he heard Jesus was approaching.
He yelled Jesus’s name but was told to be quiet by the crowd.
However, he yelled even louder.
He was determined to get his miracle.
He didn’t pay attention to the naysayers around him who told him to be quiet.
He was determined.
And in his loud cry, the Lord stopped what He was doing and turned His attention to this man.
Jesus asked him what he wanted to which the blind man said, “Lord, let me receive my sight!”
Jesus granted his request with the same enthusiasm as the man had when asking for it.
He told him his faith in God had healed him.
The word faith is further defined in this passage to mean trust and confidence that springs from His faith.
As I look at these words, I find my trust and my confidence are a bit shy of this man’s.
So, I pray for more.
We know God can do all things.
But do we know He can do all things for us?
Do we really believe He can move the mountains in our lives?
He can and He will.
Today I choose to have faith, trust, and confidence in the Lord no matter what my circumstances look like.
May you find your faith, trust, and confidence in the Lord is strengthened as you read about the blind man receiving his sight.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for teaching me to have more faith, more trust, and more confidence in You. As You healed the blind man, I pray You heal me. Heal every part of my being, Father. Heal my body and repair every cell, so I am strong and well to do Your work. Heal the recesses of my mind, Lord. May my mind be sharp and hold all the knowledge You determine me to have to do Your work. Heal my spirit, Lord. Fill my spirit with Yours, so I can love as You love and have compassion on Your people. Almighty God and Father and Great Physician, heal me and make me whole today. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM healing all the parts of you, My child.
Response: Thank You, Almighty God and Father.
