You Shall be Holy

James 1:15-16
But as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living.
For it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy.
James’ words convict me today, how about you?
In most areas of my life, I consider myself a seeker.
I seek more wisdom, more faith, and more peace.
Now I add seeking to be more holy as James suggests.
There are times when I feel like I win at this seeking thing, but there are so many times that I miss the mark when:
I lose my patience.
I’m in traffic.
I’m at the grocery store.
I’m doing tasks I don’t enjoy doing.
I put my worth in things.
And so, I ask God to help me.
Specifically, I ask Him to help me be more aware of His presence while I am doing things I don’t necessarily like to do.
I ask Him to help me be aware of His presence when I’m in situations I don’t like to be in.
And I ask Him to help me be aware of His presence when I become frustrated in the things I do enjoy doing.
We can all be seekers.
Seek more of God’s wisdom.
Seek more peace.
Seek more faith.
And we can seek to be more like Jesus.
Today I choose to remain steady in God’s presence instead of letting frustration, anxiety, and strife run my emotions and my day.
May you find that as God assists you, you are able to walk into His plan for you and be more like Jesus every day.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for Your Word. Thank You for the people You sent to write divinely inspired teachings that instruct and help us thousands of years later. Thank You for the loving way You show us how we are acting and then You provide the help for us to change. You cover our shortcomings and love us into being better people, Lord. Help us not condemn ourselves but show us how we can reach for more of You. Help us disregard our emotions and look to You to steady our thoughts and quiet our souls. May Your peace rest upon us. May Your grace cover us. May Your Wisdom guide us today. Undeserving of Your constant presence and care, You give these to us abundantly. Lead and guide our every thought, word, and step. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I AM with you and My grace is abundant for all My people. You are sanctified through the blood of My Son.
Response: Thank You, most loving and gracious God. In Jesus’ name, amen.
