I Peter 2:24
He personally bore our sins in His [own] body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.
Jesus chose to bear the sins of this world.
He walked toward His accusers knowing His brutal ending would give us a new beginning.
Most of us run from the danger, but He walked determinedly towards it.
And as He hung upon the cross, He asked the Lord to forgive the ones who put Him there.
His life was nearing an end.
The pain was excruciating, yet He was still serving.
He was gracious and merciful even while dying.
He prayed God would forgive the people.
Their eyes were blinded.
Their mistake was covered in His grace.
Our passage says that because Jesus died, we have died to sin.
We are not bound by it and are no longer controlled by it.
That’s not to say we won’t make mistakes for we are human.
However, we are covered by Jesus’ blood.
We are made righteous by Him, and we can live in righteousness instead of sin which leads to death.
I love the last line of our passage which says, “By His wounds you have been healed.”
Jesus’ sacrifice so long ago brings us healing today.
His temporary pain brought permanent healing for everyone from that moment until this moment and every moment in the future.
Today I am thankful Jesus came to live here on this earth and willingly gave up His life so we can be made whole in Him.
May you find the Lord’s sacrifice covers you in grace and mercy today and every day as you are made righteous through Him.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for sending Your Son to sacrifice His life for every one of us. Thank You for making a way for us to be completely Yours. Thank You for making a plan to bring us into relationship with You. And thank You for making us perfect in Your sight. Help us accept the sacrifice that has been made and fully receive Your gift of grace. Help us feel the magnificence of Your love. May Your grace continue to lift us into Your presence. May we be thankful for each beautiful moment we spend with You and may those moments never end. Keep us in Your presence, Father. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
