Faith Over Fear

Hebrews 10:38
“But the just shall live by faith [My righteous servant shall live by his conviction respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, and holy fervor born of faith and conjoined with it] and if he draws back and shrinks in fear, My soul has no delight or pleasure in him.”
Our passage tells us to live by faith.
Faith over fear.
It says the Lord does not delight in those who shrink in fear.
Immediately, I wonder how we can overcome our greatest fears.
The answer is in the beginning of the verse.
Faith.
Just two verses later, the Hebrews writer gives us an amazing definition of faith.
“Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].”
Faith is like a title deed – a written guarantee of sorts.
A guarantee for what we hope for as we hope in God.
It’s the kind of knowing that the things we hope for are real and will come to us at the appointed time.
This is the kind of faith that overcomes fear.
It’s not that we won’t ever be afraid.
We simply take a step forward in the face of fear.
God will not let us down.
If we will allow Him to direct our steps, He will go ahead of us and clear the way for us.
If we rely on ourselves, we will never know the joy of moving into divine care.
We’ll never know what God can do through us.
We’ll miss out on the opportunity to walk in the power of the Almighty.
I don’t want to miss this opportunity, and you probably don’t either.
Today I choose to step forward into fear and put my faith in the Lord, so He can show Himself almighty.
May you find that faith overcomes your fear and allows you to walk in the true power of God.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for the power of faith. Thank You for helping us lean into our faith instead of our fears, so You can work through us. You go ahead of us and clear away the obstacles in our path – the ones that look like mountains. For You are the mover of mountains. Even when our day seems wrought with fear, help us know that You have everything worked out for our good and Your glory. Show Yourself magnificent and glorious through us, Lord. Strengthen us in every way to do what You ask us to do. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I AM making a way for you. Trust Me and hold fast to Me.
Response: Increase our faith and trust in You, O God. In Jesus’ name, amen.
