Daily Word:
Numbers 7:32-35
“One golden bowl of ten shekels, full of incense;”
“One young bull, one ram, one male lamb a year old, for a burnt offering;”
“One male goat for a sin offering;”
“And for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, five male lambs a year old.”
Many offerings were given to the Lord by the Israelites in the Old Testament.
I was surprised at all the different types of offerings that were given.
There was a burnt offering, a sin offering, and a sacrifice of peace offering among others.
The peace offering was the largest offering by far.
It consisted of more than five times what the other offerings were comprised of.
Peace is something I strive to have in my life.
I purposely seek peace.
I pray for peace.
How interesting it was for me to read this passage today showing me that peace was something the Israelites gave a huge offering for.
In the New Testament Jesus talked about peace often.
In fact, when He returned from the grave, He greeted the disciples with the word, Peace.
Every time He greeted them after He arose, He greeted them with, Peace.
Jesus came to live and die so that we could be saved.
Saved from our sins.
Saved from eternal damnation.
Saved from ourselves.
He also died to give us peace.
Just as the Israelites gave large peace offerings, Jesus gave His life so that we could have peace.
I do not want to make null and void His sacrifice.
So, I seek after peace.
Today I choose to live in peace and pray that the Lord will grant me even more peace every day.
May you find that peace is one of the greatest gifts that the Lord has given us.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for the gift of peace. Thank You for sending Your Son to grant us access to peace. Help me always be thankful as I receive this covering, Lord. At a time when all things seem out of control and distressing, You offer peace. Help me be open to receive peace even in these tumultuous times. Help me know this is a gift that You so generously give to Your people. Help me to fully receive what You have to give. Even though I feel unworthy, Your gifts are freely given. Thank You, Lord, for all You do and all You are. Thank You for working in every detail of my life. Help me give the burdens I try to carry to You. Help me release everything to You so that I can freely give to others, Lord. Ready me for Your service. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: My peace is Yours, My child.
Response: Thank You, most gracious and loving God and Father.
