Luke 7:46-47
“You did not anoint My head with oil, but she has anointed My feet with [costly, rare] perfume.”
“Therefore, I tell you, her sins, many [as they are], are forgiven her – because she has loved much. But he who is forgiven little loves little.”
As we embark upon another Valentine’s Day, I enjoyed reading this passage.
Valentine’s Day is all about love.
Love covers all.
Jesus said that Mary was forgiven her many sins because of her deep love for Him.
She loved Him so deeply that all she had done in the past was forgiven her.
Later He even told her she was granted peace.
The Amplified Bible interpreted the word peace as used in that verse to mean “freedom from all the distresses that are experienced as the result of sin”.
Such a wonderful gift from the Lord.
The emotional turmoil that accompanies sin torment us and causes damage to our spirit and our relationships.
But the Lord granted Mary freedom from that.
He gave her a clean conscience.
Pure grace.
That is what Jesus came to offer us.
And what a perfect gift to receive on Valentine’s Day.
Peace – the kind of peace that sets us free from the emotional turmoil and emotional burdens we carry.
This is love.
True love.
So, as we celebrate another year of love with one another, may we also look to our Savior and be thankful that He nailed our sins to the cross.
May we accept the gifts He died to give us which are peace and grace.
These gifts are born out of love.
Today I choose to accept the love that Jesus came to this earth to ensure I receive as He gave His life for me.
May you find that the Love from God Almighty permeates your heart and you feel and know you are deeply loved by the Creator of this universe.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for reminding me of Your perfect love. Thank You for reminding me that Your perfect love carries me to Your arms. Thank You for sending Your Son to die for me so I can be loved by You for all eternity. And as we celebrate love this weekend, remind me that Your love saves me every single day. May Your love permeate my heart this day so I can love others more fully and more deeply. May Your love flow over to all those around me. Help me give unselfishly. Help me serve with joy today. May the tasks I do today be done unto You, Lord. Help me hear Your gentle whispers and obey Your commands as I move through this day. May Your peace descend upon me. Thank You for choosing me to know You and love You. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: My love is endless, boundless, and forever My child, and I call all people unto Me.
Response: Undeserving of Your love, thank You Almighty God and Father.
