Luke 5:4-6
“When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon (Peter), Put out into the deep [water], and lower your nets for a haul.”
“And Simon (Peter) answered, Master, we toiled all night [exhaustingly] and caught nothing [ in our nets]. But on the ground of Your word, I will lower the nets [again].”
“And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish; and as their nets were [at the point of] breaking.”
Peter was weary.
Our passage says he “toiled all night [exhaustingly].”
And even though he’d worked so hard, he had nothing to show for it.
He’d caught no fish to sell.
Then he listened to Jesus speak for some time.
When Jesus finished speaking, He singled Peter out from the crowd and told him to try one more time.
Lower his fishing net one more time.
And He told him to go to the deep water.
Well, Peter was really tired by this time.
He’d already cleaned his net.
He was done for the day.
So, he whined for a moment but ultimately obeyed Jesus’ command.
His obedience to the Lord reaped huge blessings as he caught an abundance of fish.
There are many of us who are tired.
Many of us who have done all we think we can do.
We are done.
But the Lord is saying, keep going.
Do that thing one more time.
Push in and give it one more go.
I’ll be there to bless you, My child.
This is where the miracle happens.
When our strength is gone, God steps in with a miracle.
In our surrender, He is able to do what only He can do.
Today I choose to keep going, surrender everything to the Lord, and allow Him to step in with a miracle.
May you find your strength in God as He does the miraculous in your life.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for Your Word that continues to breathe life into my spirit. Thank You for encouraging me to keep going, keep trying, and keep pushing through to victory. Your message of perseverance comes at a time when I am weary, Lord. So, I push through in Your strength. May You strengthen me in every way. Help me surrender to You and Your plan. Help me be obedient even when my will doesn’t want to comply. Help me surrender to You and allow the space for Your miracles. May Your blessings flow, Lord. May You bless the work of my hands as You blessed Peter’s. Help me cast the net one more time, Father. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM with you, My child, and I will help you do all I ask you to do for My glory.
Response: I trust in You, Lord. Strengthen and equip me for Your use.
