Psalm 37:23-24
“The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step],”
“Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord grasps his hand in support and upholds him.”
I am encouraged by this passage today.
I love reading about the Lord directing our steps.
In the past I have often had my own plans.
I would ask God to bless those plans.
Some He did, and some He did not.
In my later years I ask for God’s direction – almost always.
It is tiring to make plans that are not in God’s perfect plan.
There aren’t just bumps in the road, there are roadblocks.
But when we follow Him and ask Him to lead and direct our steps, He blesses those steps.
Our passage says the Lord will busy Himself and work diligently to direct our steps when we are following Him and His ways.
My prayer these days is to follow.
It’s a dance we dance.
As much as I have tried to lead in the past, I am now trying to follow.
I don’t always get it right, but it’s in trying that the Lord will bless us.
Because our second verse says, “Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord grasps his hand in support and upholds him.”
The Lord will help me up when I fall and then hold me up.
The Word is right and true.
It encourages me at just the right times with just the right message.
Today I choose to follow the Lord knowing that when I fall, He will take my hand and lift me up.
May you find the Lord is ready to grasp your hand and lift you up as you follow Him.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for Your Word. Thank You for the power in Your Word. Thank You for encouraging me as I read the passages of old. I find strength and a sacred perspective as I read them. As this world turns and churns and appears to be so chaotic You grasp my hand and lift me up to You. You cover me in peace and strengthen my soul. Thank You, Father, for speaking so clearly through Your Word. Thank You that I can freely read the Bible and worship You, Lord. As the impact of this year weighs heavy on my mind and spirit Your gentle whispers quiet my soul. Thank You for a few precious moments in Your presence, Father. Thank You for Your promises. Help me walk into the perfect plan You have for me. Help me bless someone this day. Thank you for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM still speaking to My people through My Word for those who will read and seek Me.
Response: Keep me seeking You, Lord, all the days of my life.
