Deuteronomy 3:21-22
“And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Your own eyes have seen all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings; so shall the Lord do to all the kingdoms into which you are going over [the Jordan].”
“You shall not fear them, for the Lord your God shall fight for you.”
Moses was encouraging Joshua in our passage today.
It was getting close to the time when God would bring His people into the promised land.
Moses was reminding Joshua about all the times the Lord had been with them and provided for them.
He recounted all the enemies they had overtaken through God’s power.
Helping Joshua remember what God had already done gave him the courage to go into this next battle with confidence, strength and might.
He told Joshua not fear the people they would come up against because God would be fighting for them.
As I read this passage, I was relieved once again that the Lord is fighting for me.
God is fighting our battles just as He fought the Israelites’ battles.
And He isn’t just fighting some of them.
Moses said, “so shall the Lord do to all the kingdoms into which you are going”.
The Lord is with us in every battle.
There are mountains we must climb in this life.
Trials we must face.
And even though it looks impossible, the Lord makes it possible for us to climb the mountain and overcome the trials.
When we come to the end of ourselves and our strength, the Lord gives us His strength.
He will grant us safe passage over the mountain and walk with us through the trials we face.
Today I choose to hold fast to the Lord and His promises as He fights the battles that are before me.
May you find the Lord has already won the battle you face, and He will safely bring you through.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for reminding me You are fighting with me in every battle I face. Thank You for reminding me that I need not be afraid, for You are with me. You are the God of Power and Might. You are the God of Strength. You are also the God of Mercy. Thank You, Lord, for fighting for me even when I feel undeserving and fall short of Your best for me. Thank You, Father, for protecting me in all situations and all circumstances. Your plan is perfect. Your love for me is forever and not just for some days. Strengthen me this day and help me do what You ask me to do. Ready me for Your service. Quiet my mind and grant me peace as I walk the path You have paved for me. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM the Great I AM, and I AM with you My child and I have gone ahead of you to make a way for you just as I have planned.
Response: Thank You for not abandoning me as I falter and stumble. Strengthen me to carry out Your will.
