Psalm 100:3
Know (perceive, recognize, and understand with approval) that the Lord is God! It is He Who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His]! We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Our Scripture tells us to know that the Lord is God.
The Amplified Bible’s definition of the word know is to, “perceive, recognize, and understand with approval.”
Usually, I think about the word know as meaning exactly that – to know something.
But as we press in, a more accurate definition of the word know in our passage asks us to go a bit further to, “understand with approval.”
I find I don’t always approve of how things are in my little world and sometimes ask the question why.
Why God, why?
Obviously, I do not know or understand all the ways of the Lord, nor am I supposed to.
Only He does.
It is not my place to question why He does what He does or allows what He allows.
It is simply my place to know that He is God.
Secondly, our verse says, “It is He Who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His]!”
We are not our own.
As much as we desire to be independent, we cannot live independent of God.
He created us for Him.
And there is no other plan that will work for us other than His plan.
I experience tremendous frustration and disappointment when I try to go my own way.
But when I am aligned with God, peace returns.
Finally, the last part of our verse says, “We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.”
We are collectively His.
We exist separately, yet we are all together, His.
Today I choose to know the Lord is God, that I am His, and He watches over me because I am one of His sheep.
May you know that the Lord is God, He made you, and you are completely His.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, You are the One True God. Thank You for being our Shepherd. Thank You for choosing us to know You and bringing us into Your fold. Thank You for making a way for us to be completely Yours. May You lift us into Your presence and allow us to worship You. May Your peace flow over our lives and into our souls. Lead us to the quiet waters and green pastures today. Restore and refresh us. Help us rest in You, Father. Help us focus on You as we tend to the needs of this day. May Your grace be upon us, and Your love fill our hearts. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I AM the Shepherd of My sheep and will care for all as they have need.
