The Lord Needs It

Daily Word:
Mark 11:2-3
“And instructed them, Go into the village in front of you, and as soon as you enter it, you will find a colt tied, which has never been ridden by anyone; unfasten it and bring it [here].”
“If anyone asks you, Why are you doing this? Answer, The Lord needs it, and He will send it back here presently.”
I have read these verses many, many times over the years.
Today, however, I was struck with the words in this scripture.
It seems so random – Jesus asking His disciples to go and get the colt.
The donkey that Jesus would ride on into the city on the very first Palm Sunday.
There are times I have feel, most certainly, that the Lord has given me an instruction.
Something to do that seemed random.
And there have been times that I felt anointed to do something for someone, however, it wasn’t’ received as I thought it should be.
What this scripture clearly showed me today is that there is no random in kingdom living.
Even if I feel like God is telling me to do something that seems random, or not very inspiring, or just not important to me, I must know that He has a reason.
How could the disciples have really known what they were up to and what future significance it would mean to go get the colt?
After all, this simple act would become a part of the very first Palm Sunday – the Sunday before the Christ would die on the cross for all sins of all people.
Similarly, how can I know what the meaning is of a simple act that the Lord asks me to complete?
I cannot.
I do not.
Currently, I am providing meals for my family and spending time listening to my sons as they face the unique challenges of this time.
These may seem like insignificant acts, but I know that God has a bigger purpose in His plan.
My job is to be obedient to His requests of me.
It is not to question what He asks me to do.
I am simply to be obedient.
Put down the dishes and listen when He says listen.
Stop the never-ending chores and be present with my family.
Today I choose to listen to God’s whispers and obey Him before I complete the tasks that are ahead of me.
May you find that as He asks seemingly random tasks of you, that you will be blessed as you obey His commands.
Daily Word:
O Lord, my God, thank You for teaching me to listen. Thank You for slowing me down inside of the seemingly endless duties that I have so that I can take time and listen to You. Help me obey Your every command. Help me see that I am blessed beyond measure when I listen to You and obey. May Your will be done over mine. Help me set aside my desire to accomplish the things that are in front of me to take the precious time with my family that will never be recaptured once gone. May Your grace be upon me so that all the little things can be easily done in order to attend to the greater things today. Help me to be present in every moment with my family. Help me set aside any resentment I have about serving and help me serve with joy. May I hear every whisper, Lord. May you show me the beauty that every moment of this day provides. Don’t let me miss You, Lord. Don’t let me miss You and Your perfect plan. May Your peace settle upon me and my mind. May Your peace be upon this household. Help me bless someone today, Lord. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
