Daily Word:
Acts 2:39
“For the promise [of the Holy Spirit] is to and for you and your children, and to and for all that are far away [even] to and for as many as the Lord our God invites and bids to come to Himself.”
Peter was talking to the crowd just after the Holy Spirit had come to them on the day of Pentecost.
The crowd was bewildered because they were hearing people speak and praise God in their own dialect.
There were many dialects spoken by the simple Galileans.
Confusion arose by the crowd.
They were astounded at what they were hearing.
Some said the Galileans were drunk.
But Peter stood up and addressed the crowd to explain.
As he was explaining that Jesus was the Christ and they had put Him on the cross, the people were convicted of their sin.
They asked Peter what they could do.
Peter said, “Repent and be baptized”.
He, then, told them our verse, “the promise [of the Holy Spirit] is to and for you and your children, and to and for all that are far away, [even] to and for as many as the Lord our God invites and bids to come to Himself.”
I am thankful that Jesus’ death saved me.
Some two thousand years later, Jesus’ sacrifice has reached for me and saved me.
How could that be?
It seems nearly impossible that Peter’s actions and words would still impact people two thousand years later.
But they do.
I am so grateful that the Lord has called me to know Him.
Not only that, but the wonder working power of the Holy Spirit that came to the people on the day of Pentecost is available to me as well.
Today I am thankful that God chose me to know Him and that His Holy Spirit is at work in me.
May you find great joy in the fact that God has called you to know Him and that His Holy Spirit is alive and working in your life.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for choosing me to know You. Thank You for sending Your Son to die for me so that I can be close to You. Thank You that Your promises made two thousand years ago are still promised to me today. Thank You for the infilling of Your Holy Spirit that enables me, equips me, and fills me with Your love. Help any unbelief I have, Lord. Increase my belief in Your wonder working Power and miraculous nature. Help me access all that the Holy Spirit will give me, Lord. Thank You for Your healing power. Thank You for the gifts You give me, Father. Help me be a good steward of them and all that You give me. Thank You, Father, for showing me more of You every day. Help me learn more. And then help me give to others as You give to me. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM the same God today as I was two thousand years ago, and My power is for all who ask.
Response: Help me do all that You have for me to do and receive your gifts as you offer them.
