I Thessalonians 2:13
And we also [especially] thank God continually for this, that when you received the message of God [which you heard] from us, you welcomed it not as the word of [mere] men, but as it truly is, the Word of God, which is effectually at work in you who believe [exercising its superhuman power in those who adhere to and trust in and rely on it].
Whenever I see the word superhuman in the Bible, I take notice.
I actually get excited because I love to see superhuman power in motion.
Many of us do or there wouldn’t be all the superhuman movies made for us to enjoy.
Paul writes about the Word of God exercising its superhuman power in us.
God is always at work in us to bring us up higher, and reading His Word furthers the mission.
I recently started another journey through the Bible and discovered something new.
I saw how hard God worked to have relationship with His people in the Old Testament.
He met with all the big names: Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, and Moses because He desired relationship with them.
By the time He talked with Moses, a nation was building – a very large nation.
It’s estimated 600,000 Israelites left Egypt, and some say this was just the number of men.
That’s a lot of people to keep track of, and Lord wanted each one to be His.
He gave specific instructions to Moses all the way from Exodus through Deuteronomy about how to live according to His commandments, statutes, and ordinances so they could remain set apart for Him.
God is holy and He wanted His people to be holy so He could reside with them.
The Lord is the same today.
He desires relationship with us so much so that He sent His Son to make it possible.
I do believe the Word exercises superhuman power in all of us as we seek Him in His Word for He is always seeking us.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for Your Word. Thank You for the power in Your Word. Please continue to teach us more about You and Your ways. Put eagerness in our hearts to seek You, Father. May we never tire of seeking a deeper relationship with You and drawing closer to You. As the busyness of this world tries to steal us from You, hold us close. Keep our hearts soft toward You and grant us more understanding and wisdom each day, Lord. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I will continue to do a work in you until you come home to Me.
Response: Help us lean into You and welcome Your teaching, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
