To Help You Believe
Daily Word:
John 11:4, 14-15
“When Jesus received the message, he said, This sickness is not to end in death; but it is to honor God and to promote His glory that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”
“So then Jesus told them plainly, Lazarus is dead.”
“And for your sake I am glad that I was not there; it will help you to believe (to trust and rely on Me). However, let us go to him.”
We know the story of Lazarus’ sickness and death well.
His sisters sent word to Jesus that Lazarus was sick asking Him to come.
But Jesus didn’t go.
He tarried.
He waited until the unthinkable happened.
He waited until Lazarus was dead.
Not only until he was dead, but He waited until Lazarus was buried for several days.
I was putting myself in the Mary and Martha’s place for a moment.
They must have felt extreme distress.
They had to watch their brother suffer with illness and die.
They had to bury him.
All the while they were waiting for Jesus to come and heal him, but He didn’t.
They must have felt betrayed by Jesus’ absence.
Of course, we know the end of the story.
Jesus waited so He could instill a greater faith in those who followed Him.
He wanted to show them the miraculous.
He wanted their belief in Him and His Father to increase.
So, He waited.
He waited until it all seemed to be said and done.
Lazarus was in the tomb.
The people were grieving.
And then Jesus showed up.
His actions were bigger than their minds and spirits could imagine.
He brought Lazarus back to life.
And the people’s belief skyrocketed.
Similarly, we cannot begin to imagine the things that God wants to do in our lives.
We see we need Him.
We want Him to answer our prayers the way we ask Him to answer us.
We are disappointed when our answer doesn’t come.
We become distraught and disillusioned because we didn’t get our answer.
And then the miracle comes.
Out of nowhere, the miracle comes.
If God would have answered our prayer in the way we wanted Him to answer us, there may not have been the miracle.
Just the answer.
Our belief in Him may not have increased as it does when He answers in the way only He can do.
Today I choose to continue to believe in the miraculous and give my burdens to the Lord for Him to work His miracles in my life.
May you find that the Lord has bigger plans for you than you can imagine and that He will show Himself miraculous in your life.
Daily Prayer:
