Psalm 52:9
“I will thank You and confide in You forever, because You have done it [delivered me and kept me safe]. I will wait on, hope in and expect in Your name, for it is good, in the presence of Your saints (Your kind and pious ones).”
I love King David’s BIG faith.
He never doubted God.
His faith was built one day at a time as he was shepherding his flock.
First, Young David learned to protect himself and his sheep through all the dangers he faced.
I believe God was instilling the sense of protection and watchful care in David’s spirit as God was teaching him that He was caring for him as well.
We do this as parents.
We want our children to know that we will care for them and protect them at all costs.
David was learning to trust in the Lord as his sheep were trusting him.
Secondly, David lived in the quiet where the Lord could be heard.
For it is in the quiet that David heard God speaking to his heart.
Third, David pulled close to God in times of need.
David needed the Lord to watch over and protect him from the wild animals – to give him the strength to fight them.
As God strengthened him to fight and not be destroyed, His faith grew.
With every victory, David’s faith grew.
And it grew to the point that there was nothing he felt he could not do with the Lord’s help.
God could do great things in David with the BIG faith and belief cultivated in him.
It makes me wonder what we all could do through and for the Lord if we had that kind of faith.
I am touched by the notion that the Lord puts His treasure in each of us.
He creates each of us unique and wonderful.
He watches over and protects us just as He did King David so that our faith in Him will grow.
Then He can do great things through us.
As our passage says, “I will wait on, hope in and expect in Your name, for it is good.”
Today I choose to believe in God’s goodness, wisdom, loving-kindness, and mercy as I wait on Him and expect in Him.
May you find the Lord is good all the time and in everything and that He will take care of you.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for reminding me of Your goodness. Thank You for reminding me of Your mercy and loving-kindness. Thank You for reminding me that You are more than faithful to me, Your servant. Help me be more like King David, Father. Increase my faith and belief in You and Your power to do all things wonderful and mighty. Thank You, Lord, for Your Word that encourages me every time I read it. You are Mighty! You are Great! You are greatly to be praised! May Your Holy Spirit fill my spirit. May Your wisdom be imparted into my soul. Help me wait upon You for everything and know that You will make all things come to pass for Your glory. Left to myself, I am unable. But left to You, all things are possible. Keep my eyes on You today. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM with you, My child, and will make all things come to pass.
Response: Thank You, Almighty and All-Powerful Lord and God.
