Psalm 51:6 and 10
“Behold, You desire truth in the inner being; make me therefore to know wisdom in my inmost heart.”
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me.”
Only the Lord knows what is in our hearts – the deepest part of our hearts.
Sometimes we are not even consciously aware of what is in the depths of our hearts.
But this is where God lives.
This is God’s space.
King David’s plea is that the Lord would put His wisdom into his “inmost heart”.
The older I get the more I see the value and utmost importance in God’s wisdom.
I require it.
I cannot live without the Lord’s wisdom and guidance.
If I move in a direction without consulting the Lord, I am usually moving in a direction I shouldn’t go.
So, I have become desperate for His leading and guidance.
I must be intentional about seeking it out.
When all is quiet and I have the time and space to think and pray, my heart is the Lord’s.
When I get too busy my heart is filled with the world.
There isn’t room for both God and the world.
So, it is my responsibility to be intentional with how I spend my time.
David prayed for God to create a clean heart in him.
He asked that the Lord renew his heart and make a “persevering and steadfast spirit within”
him.
This is my prayer as well.
God wants my heart.
He wants my whole heart.
And only He can sanctify it.
Today I choose to pray that the Lord will put His wisdom in my heart and sanctify my heart, so I am clean in His sight.
May you find the Lord is putting His wisdom in your heart and creating a clean heart in you.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for reminding me You desire a truthful heart. Thank You for reminding me You are the keeper of my heart and will sanctify it and make me clean before You. I pray You lead and guide me in every step I take and every word I utter. May I do Your will, Father. Help me do all that You have planned for me. Help me seek you before the world. Help me seek Your wisdom and allow You to impart Your wisdom to my heart. Help me hear Your gentle whispers and heed Your call. Prepare me to serve You in all ways, Lord. Strengthen me so I may do as You ask. Thank You for choosing me to know You. Thank You for making my heart Yours. You are the Keeper of my heart and soul. May You always find a place in my spirit. Do not let me keep You from taking over my whole heart. Help me give every part of my heart to You. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: You are Mine, sayeth the Lord, and will always be Mine.
Response: Undeserving of You, Lord, please keep me Yours.
