Daily Word:
I Peter 2:24
“He personally bore our sins in His [own] body on the tree [as on an altar and offered Himself on it], that we might die (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.”
I used to wonder why Jesus had to die.
As a young girl I was told over and over that Jesus died for my sins.
I believed it but wasn’t so sure why He offered Himself as a sacrifice.
This verse is brief but powerful.
It states exactly what Jesus did, why he did it, and how it affects us.
Before Jesus came the people lived under the Law.
The people brought animals to the temple for a sacrifice to be forgiven.
There had to be a blood sacrifice for their sins.
Jesus came to replace that sacrifice.
He did far more than that.
He came so, “that we might die (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness.”
Not only are we forgiven, but we no longer have to be run around by sin.
We can be transformed as we seek righteousness.
We can come into God’s presence and be made whole by Him.
We now have the opportunity to be fully changed by God Almighty.
We are filled with His Spirit so that we can guided by Him.
And we are seen by God as unblemished – perfect in His sight.
Lastly, this verse ends with, “By His wounds you have been healed.”
We are healed.
Transformed into His likeness.
His sacrifice gave us everything – more than words can explain and our minds can comprehend.
I never want to take His sacrifice for granted.
Today I am ever so thankful that Jesus came and died for me so that I could be made whole, be forgiven, and be healed.
May you find that Jesus’ sacrifice saved you completely from the enemy and opened up a new way for you to be forgiven, transformed, and healed.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for sending Your Son to live and die here on earth so that I could be forgiven, born anew, lead by righteousness, and can now come into Your presence. I praise You, Father! Your perfect plan saved me. Your perfect plan brought me into relationship with You. Thank You for choosing me to know You. Thank You for Your Word that transforms my heart. Thank You for reaching down and lifting me up. Thank You for never letting go. Help me to always be in awe of the sacrifice that was ordained by You and carried out by Your Son. You have given me life where there wasn’t any. You put love into my heart that was hardened. You have showered me with grace and mercy, and I thank You. Help me live to righteousness and not my own earthly desires. Put Your desires in my heart. Help me do Your will, Lord. Help me do all that You have for me to do here on this earth. Help me love fully, serve joyfully, and seek You all the days of my life. Keep me Yours, Lord. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: My Son’s sacrifice was for you and for all who can accept it and makes the imperfect perfect in My eyes.
Response: Thank You, Almighty and gracious God.
