Psalm 65:4
Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man whom You choose and cause to come near, that he may dwell in Your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, Your holy temple.”
I love this verse.
I love that King David knew God was responsible for their relationship.
He understood God chose him to be close to Him.
This is what we call grace.
We cannot be good enough or do good enough for the Lord to want us close to Him.
The Lord wants us to be close to Him simply because we are His.
We are His children, and He desires communion with us.
I feel similarly about my own children.
I want them to be close to me.
I want to spend time with them.
And now that they are all away in college, I want them to come home.
David tells us we can dwell with Him.
This is such an amazing gift.
Imagine dwelling with the Almighty God, the one Who made the heavens and the earth.
There are people I have wanted to spend time with and do life with, but the feeling was not mutual.
I felt rejected and dejected.
And yet, the Lord of Lord’s wants to hang out with me.
I am grateful beyond measure.
I am grateful the Lord chose me to know Him.
He could have chosen someone else.
He could have utilized me for another purpose.
Pharaoh was used by God to show the people He was Almighty and All-Powerful.
I would not have enjoyed being used in that way.
So, I am grateful.
Many people feel a sense that there is a power in the universe.
I am thankful to know Him personally and experience His power in my life.
I am thankful for such an intimate relationship with Him.
Today I am grateful the Lord chose me to know Him, worship Him, and chose me to come near Him.
May you find thankfulness in God’s plan to call you close to Him, be in relationship with Him, and make you holy through the sacrifice of His Son.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for choosing me to know You. Thank You for calling me into close relationship with You. Thank You for putting worship in my heart for You. Thank You for wrangling my heart and my will to keep me for You. May Your will be done. May I walk in Your will for the rest of my days. Keep me seeking You, father. Keep my heart longing after You. Help me love like You do. Help me forgive like You do. Help me offer grace like You do. May Your mercy flow over me and through me to others. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: You are Mine, sayeth the Lord, and will always be Mine.
Response: Undeservedly Yours, thank You for choosing me to know You.
