Deuteronomy 23:5
“Nevertheless, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam, but the Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing to you, because the Lord your God loves you.”
Such a comforting verse to my soul today.
A curse turned into a blessing.
Only the Lord can do this.
Only He can turn our distresses, pain, and difficulties into blessings.
In the Old Testament, the Ammonites and Moabites did not give the Israelites food or water when they left Egypt.
Instead of helping them the Ammonites and Moabites hired Balaam to put a curse on them.
Why?
There were afraid of the Israelites because they were many in number and they had seen the great works God had done on their behalf.
Fear usually is the culprit of such action.
Of course, the Lord is more powerful than any curse, and He stated He did not listen to Balaam.
He turned Balaam’s curse into a blessing for the Israelites.
Our passage shows me once again the Lord is greater than all evil.
It shows me He will come to our aid in all situations and circumstances.
I’m sure the Israelites must have been afraid when it seemed they did not have food to eat or water to drink.
I’m sure I would have been scared too.
In fact, I have faced those fears.
But God always showed Himself faithful to me and my families’ needs.
He always provided even when there seemed to be no way.
The enemy is always at work trying to devastate us.
But the Lord is greater.
He is greater than anything that can come against us.
Today I choose to believe the Lord is for me and He will turn every curse, distress, and difficulty into a blessing.
May you find the Lord is for you and is at work turning your troubles into blessings this day and every day.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for reminding me You turn difficulties into blessings. You have blessed Your people from the beginning of time. You have taken care of them through all their trials and pain. Your plan has always been to care for them and bless them even amidst the difficulties they faced. Thank You for showing me how faithful You have been to Your people. Help me stand on Your faithfulness today, Lord. Help me know You are caring for me as well. As I write these words, I hear a still small voice assuring me You are watching over me. I hear You telling me You are turning my hardships into blessings. Thank You, Father, for Your perfect care of me. Thank You for all You do and all You are. You are so much bigger than I can possibly comprehend. You are Almighty! You are great and greatly to be Praised! Help me bless someone this day as You have blessed me so richly. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM with you My child and I will let no harm come upon you.
Response: Thank You for assuring me of Your careful watch over me, Almighty God and Father.
