Daily Word
Psalm 59:17
“Unto You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; for God is my Defense, my Fortress, and High Tower, the God Who shows me mercy and steadfast love.”
King David was in much distress when he wrote these words.
He was being attacked.
He had many enemies.
And, yet, he praised God.
He praised God for being his Strength.
I am reminded about all the times it seemed my strength was gone.
I called upon God and He renewed my strength.
He was my strength when I had none.
Then David described God in military terms.
God was his Defense.
God was his Fortress.
God is was High Tower.
All of these terms are battle words.
God was always David’s defense.
The Lord was also David’s fortress – his Strength.
Lastly, a High Tower in the Bible is a huge tower with a lighted fire at the top to guide ships into port.
David continually looked to God for guidance.
The Lord led and guided David in all things.
So, I look to the Lord for all the same things today.
He is my Defense.
He is my Fortress.
He is my High Tower.
Today I call upon the Lord to do battle in my life.
May you find that the Lord is ready to guard you, defend you, strengthen you, and lead you in all things.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for being my Defense. Thank You for being my Fortress. And, thank You for being my High Tower. You are my Protector in all ways. Thank You, Father, for watching over me and the family You have given me. Thank You for never leaving us alone. Thank You for Your constant and faithful provision. Increase my faith so that I am able to weather every storm and difficulty that I will face. Help me also wait expectantly upon You for every blessing You have in store for me. You bless me beyond my ability to grasp. Thank You, Lord, for reaching down and saving me. Thank You for Your constant presence. I long for the day that I will kneel before You in heaven. For now, keep me close, Lord. Only You can keep me for I cannot keep myself. Help me draw close to You. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM with you, My child, and will keep you as My own for all eternity.
Response: Undeserving of Your grace, thank You, most gracious and merciful Lord.
