Daily Word:
Luke 19:2-5
“And there was a man called Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector, and [he was] rich.”
“And he was trying to see Jesus, which One He was, but he could not on account of the crowd, because he was small in stature,”
“So he ran on ahead and climbed up in a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass that way.”
“And when Jesus reached the place, He looked up and said to him, Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.”
Zacchaeus was earnestly seeking to see Jesus.
He sought Him out.
He ran on ahead and climbed a tree.
There was nothing that was going to stop Zacchaeus from seeing the Lord.
He was determined.
As I read these verses I thought, why did Jesus pick him?
I had not really ever thought about it that way.
But of all people who were following Him and wanting to see Him, why did Jesus pick Zacchaeus to dine with?
Why this short little man?
Verse 10 says, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Zacchaeus was seeking Jesus and Jesus was seeking Zacchaeus.
They were seeking one another.
The story ends with Zacchaeus finding salvation that evening.
He gave to the poor and restored anyone that he had cheated with four times the recompense.
A glorious ending!
The same is in store for us.
When we earnestly seek, we find.
It is a Biblical concept that is true and one which I have experienced time and time again.
Today I choose to seek the Lord knowing that I will find Him, and He will bless me with His presence.
May you find what you seek this day and all days.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for the encouragement that Your Word brings to me. Thank You for teaching me about You so that I can learn more of Your Ways. Thank You for imparting wisdom into my soul each and every day. I continue to pray for more wisdom so that I may traverse this life with Your wisdom leading and guiding me. Keep me Yours, Lord, as this world becomes more and more unsettled. Help me remain strong in You, Father. May Your desires become my desires so that I seek Your will instead of my own. Keep me seeking You. Thank You for being so present in my life, Lord. You are my Strength and my Redeemer. I am unable to save myself, but You save me every day. Help me bless someone today as You bless me. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM with you, My child, and take pleasure in teaching you about Me.
Response: Thank You, Almighty God and Father.
