God is Our Hiding Place

Psalm 32:6
You are a hiding place for me; You, Lord, preserve me from trouble. You surround me with songs and shouts of deliverance. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!
Oh, to have a resting place.
A hiding place.
As children we played hide and seek.
We loved to hide and hoped that no one would find us.
As an adult, I sometimes wish there was a place to hide.
Our scripture tells us that we can hide under the care of our God and King.
He keeps us safe as we are tucked away by Him.
And while we are hidden, He surrounds us with music and songs.
King David also wrote about God’s forgiveness in this psalm.
Verse five says, “I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I did not hide. I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord [continually unfolding the past till all is told] – then You [instantly] forgave me the guilt and iniquity of my sin.”
God not only forgave David, but He forgave him instantly – without hesitation.
Just as King David was forgiven, so are we.
We need only to accept the forgiveness our gracious God offers.
Sometimes we want to hold onto our sin because it is difficult to feel deserving of such forgiveness.
But the Lamb of God gave His life for us.
How can we not accept His forgiveness?
It would be as if we didn’t accept Jesus’ death as enough.
Not enough to cover our deepest darkest secrets.
But Jesus’ death was and still is enough.
There is nothing more to be done.
We just need to accept it.
And then we can run to our hiding place, to the presence of God, where He surrounds us with songs of deliverance.
Today I choose to accept God’s complete forgiveness and hide under the wings of Almighty God.
May you find as you fully accept Jesus’ sacrifice for your sins that you will feel completely forgiven and loved by Him.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for sending Your Son to come to this earth to live and die for us. Please forgive us for all we have done that is against Your will. Forgive our shortcomings and sins and help us let go of all the shame we carry. Help us accept His sacrifice as sufficient to cover our sins. And then help us completely give up our will for Yours. May we look to You for everything we need instead of looking to the world. May we rest in Your presence today. May Your peace be upon us. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: You are forgiven, and your sins are forgotten because My Son died to make it so. Rest in Me.
Response: Thank You, most gracious and merciful Lord.
