Matthew 1:17
“So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen, from David to the Babylonian exile (deportation) fourteen generations, from the Babylonian exile to the Christ fourteen generations.”
If there is any question about God’s perfect nature, perfect timing, or perfect will, this is just one verse in the Bible that proves His perfection.
He is perfect down to the numbers of all things including generations.
There are no mistakes in His Word mathematic or otherwise.
He has designed everything from the beginning of time to the end.
Just when I start leaning into the world and all its problems, the Lord assures me He is in control.
His plan is being executed today just as it was thousands of years ago, and I can be confident in Him.
Depending on what Bible is used, Psalm 117 is the middle chapter of the Bible and holds only two verses:
“O Praise the Lord, all you nations! Praise Him, all you people!”
“For His mercy and loving-kindness are great toward us, and the truth and faithfulness of the Lord endure forever. Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)”
A great truth is related in this psalm.
We are told to praise God.
Following is an explanation as to why.
He is merciful, loving, and kind.
Another version of the Bible puts Psalm 118 as the middle of the Bible with exactly 594 chapters before it and 594 chapters after it.
And when you add the number of the chapters before it and after it, the sum is 1,118.
Our Lord is the Great Mathematician among all the other Greats that He is.
When I begin to question God’s sovereignty, I need to simply remember some of these truly marvelous things in His Word.
A Bible put together by man.
How could such imperfect people form the Bible so perfectly?
It would be impossible without God.
Same is true of our lives.
No matter how imperfect we are, He has a perfect plan for our lives.
Today I choose to believe God’s perfection reigns over my imperfection.
May you find the Lord is the sovereign Ruler over your life as well.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for showing me more of Your nature. Your Word is perfect, Lord and shows me of Your perfection. You have designed it and my life more perfectly than I can possibly understand. Grant me the patience to see Your plan for my life unfold. Help me wait expectantly for You to work all things out for my good and Your glory. Do not let me grow weary of well-doing in the meantime. Help me shower those around me with love. Grow compassion in my heart, Lord. Help me see with Your eyes and give me the strength to be obedient to Your call. Help me do all You have put me on this earth to do. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM the Great I AM, and I AM working all things out for your good and My glory.
Response: May I wait on You, Lord, and be obedient to Your voice.
