John 21:4 and 6
“Morning was already breaking when Jesus came to the beach and stood there. However, the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.”
“And He said to them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find [some]. So they cast the net, and now they were not able to haul it in for such a big catch (mass, quantity) of fish [was in it].”
Many of us know this story well.
Jesus had been crucified and was risen.
He had met with the disciples at different times and under different circumstances before ascending into heaven.
Sometimes they recognized Him and other times they did not.
This was a time they didn’t.
A number of the disciples were out fishing all night.
Jesus knew the men hadn’t caught any fish.
And I don’t believe this was an accident.
These were seasoned fishermen who knew when and where to fish.
I believe the Lord prevented them from catching the fish.
Why?
So He could once again show them a miracle to increase their belief in Him.
When morning came, and no fish were caught, Jesus told them to put their nets out on the right side of the boat.
When they did, there were so many fish they were unable to handle them all.
It was then that Peter recognized the Lord.
The miracle made it clear to him Who was giving them instructions.
Sometimes we don’t recognize the Lord is with us either until the miracle comes.
And sometimes we have to experience lack before the miracle just as the disciples did.
However, we must know the Lord has His hand in our lives all the time.
He is in the lack.
He is in the abundance.
We may just not recognize He is with us until the miracle comes.
But if there were no lack, there would be no need of a miracle.
So, I pray for patience to wait upon the Lord and His perfect timing.
Today I choose to expectantly wait upon the Lord to show Himself miraculous where I am currently experiencing lack.
May you find the Lord is working to bring you abundance where there is now lack.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for showing me more of Your ways. Thank You for showing me You are working even when I experience lack in my life. You have perfectly prepared the circumstances around me to bring forth abundance in Your timing. Help me be patient as I wait upon You to do what only You can do. Thank You for the promise of Your miracle working power in my life. May Your will be done, Lord. Bend my will to Yours so I walk in Your perfect will instead of my imperfect feelings. Keep me Yours through every trial and difficulty, Lord. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM working in all your circumstances My child, and will bring about good things for you and glory to Me.
Response: Help me wait upon You and Your goodness, Almighty God and Father.
