Psalm 12:6-7
“The words and promises of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times over.”
“You will keep them and preserve them, O Lord; You will guard and keep us from this [evil] generation forever.”
Lately, I’ve found King David’s writing so relevant to our world today.
The beginning of this psalm starts with, “Help Lord! For principled and godly people are here no more; faithfulness and the faithful vanish from among the sons of men.”
Don’t we feel this deep in our spirits?
I know there are still some of God’s people here on earth but is seems there are fewer as the years go by.
So, I take refuge in our passage today.
King David refers to God’s words and promises as silver.
Not just the silver we imagine in a silver platter or tea set.
But silver that has been in the furnace and heated up to its melting point of 1,763 degrees.
Silver that has been “purified seven times over.”
I love this analogy.
The idea of God’s words and promises being pure give me hope.
Hope that the Lord has not forgotten about His people.
David goes on to write the Lord will be sure to keep His word.
God’s words and promises are pure, perfect, and can be fully trusted.
David also writes the Lord “will guard and keep us from this [evil] generation forever.”
We can feel safe in Him.
We are guarded by Him.
When all looks grim and impossible, the Lord promises He will be our Keeper.
Today I choose to believe the Lord is watching over, protecting and guarding me as He carries out His perfect plan.
May you find the Lord is working all things out for your good and His glory as He is watching over you.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for Your Word which continues to give me hope in hopeless times. Thank You for pouring Your Spirit into mine as I learn more about You and Your ways. Your Word tells me Your promises are like silver that has been melted and refined seven times. Your promises are pure and perfect. Your promise to shelter, protect and guard me and Your people from the evil in this world can be trusted. You can always be trusted, Father. Increase our faith in You so we can withstand the darkness that prevails in this world. Strengthen us in every way so we can stand strong in times of adversity. May Your Light shine amidst the darkness and light the path for Your people to follow. Help us hear Your voice and be obedient to You in every way. Keep us in Your perfect care, Lord. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I AM watching over and protecting My people, the ones who know My Name and worship Me.
