He Runs to Us

Hebrews 2:18
For because He Himself [in His humanity] has suffered in being tempted (tested and tried), He is able [immediately] to run to the cry of (assist, relieve) those who are being tempted and tested and tried [and who therefore are being exposed to suffering].
Life is full of hardships and difficulties.
Sometimes the suffering seems unbearable.
Most often, we feel so alone during our trials.
Alone and frightened because we don’t think anyone can possibly understand what we are going through.
But there are people who have experienced our same kind of trial.
We find them along our journey and are comforted by their stories of perseverance.
Jesus also experienced difficulties and trials including significant testing from the enemy.
But I forget He wants to help us in our trials.
Maybe shame or desperation keeps me from looking to the Lord.
Or maybe the suffering is so intense that I cannot even look up.
Then the Word gently compasses me back to Jesus.
And we are reminded He comes to our aid as our passage today tells us.
Not just sometimes, but every time.
He knows what it is like to suffer, so He knows how to help us in our suffering.
He desires to rescue us when we are “tempted and tested and tried” because He knows what it’s like and compassion fills his heart for us.
However, if we do not look to Him, we cannot receive His gift of intercession or strength.
I wonder how much we miss from God because we are not open to receiving.
Let’s remember the Lord is waiting for us to receive His help.
He helps us from His abundant storehouses in the heavenly realm.
Today I choose to look to Jesus to help me in all ways because He is ready to supply me with all I need.
May you find the Lord is waiting to give you the bountiful gifts He has ready for you to relieve your pain and suffering.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for being ready and anxious to come to our aid when we need You. Thank You for Your Word that tells us Your Son encountered the same trials and temptations as we do, so He runs to help us and relieve our suffering. Thank You for Your mercy, Father. Thank You for Your grace. We are undeserving of Your careful watch over us, and yet You are determined to provide it for us anyway. Help us receive the help You have for us. Help us remember to look to You for all we need. May we look to you for strength when we are tempted by the enemy. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I desire to help you and will always provide the strength to withstand the enemy and relieve your suffering.
Response: Thank You, most gracious and merciful Lord, God Almighty. Help us look to You for everything we need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
