Enter God’s Rest

Hebrews 3:19
So we see that they were not able to enter [into His rest], because of their unwillingness to adhere to and trust in and rely on God [unbelief shut them out].
Peace and rest are available in God.
We just don’t tap into it as much as we could or probably as much as we need to.
The world steals our attention and time with its empty promises of security.
I find when I am pursuing ways to make me feel secure, I start trusting more in those things rather than in trusting God.
I put my faith in worldly possessions instead of heavenly ones.
My focus shifts to activities that steal my time, energy, and emotional capacity.
After all the chasing, there isn’t energy left to pursue God.
There isn’t time to read the Bible, pray, or sit in God’s presence.
Eventually the worldly treasure I was chasing becomes a mirage.
And no matter how close I get to the pot of gold at the end of that rainbow, the gold moves further away.
Eventually, I realize I have chased yet another empty promise leaving me exhausted.
Then I pick up the Bible and attempt to rekindle my relationship with God.
He is always there to pick me up, heal my wounds, and restore my soul.
But I realize I’ve lost precious time with my Lord.
We have to be wary of the enemy trying to derail us from God’s purpose for us.
As I read our passage today, I was reminded that God requires my trust in Him and not worldly things.
I saw myself in the Israelites who desired to be constantly entertained by false gods and were, therefore, unable to enter God’s rest or the promised land.
They never fully trusted in God.
Our passage says their “unbelief had shut them out” of God’s rest.
Today I choose to put my trust and reliance in the Lord and enter His rest.
May you find as you trust and believe in God, He will bring you to a place of rest and peace.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for Your Word that reminds us to trust in You. As we put our faith in You and rely on You, we enter Your rest. Help us fully give ourselves to You. Help us give You our worries and troubles. Help us give You our dreams and deepest desires. And then mold and shape our hearts, Lord. Bend our will to Yours. Do not let us be led astray by the world. Help us sort out the real from the unreal. Impart Your Wisdom into our souls, so we can distinguish the wise from the foolish. Help us seek You in all things and keep our eyes on You today, Father. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I AM the Great I AM. Believe in Me. Believe in My Son.
Response: Grant us supernatural belief in You, Almighty God and Father. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
