Ephesians 4:2
“Living as becomes you with complete lowliness of mind (humility) and meekness (unselfishness, gentleness, mildness), with patience, bearing with one another and making allowances because you love one another.”
Paul was encouraging the people at Ephesus.
His words encourage me today as well.
They are full of Wisdom.
He says that a humble spirit is beautiful.
In these chaotic times, thinking about a humble spirit fills my soul with peace.
Paul says that meekness is also becoming to us Christians.
The Amplified Bible defines the word meekness used here as “unselfishness, gentleness, mildness”.
It seems more important now than ever to be unselfish.
Thinking of others before ourselves.
Offering grace to those with same and differing opinions.
Not making others wrong for how they feel during such a difficult time.
Paul tells us to be gentle.
Oh, if we could lead with a gentle spirit.
I do not always win here but Paul gives us a great reminder that gentle is beautiful.
He also tells us to have patience.
He says we need to make allowances for one another.
Most of us are more vulnerable right now than ever.
If we can recognize that others are having a difficult time as well, we can offer grace more easily.
So, put on a humble spirit.
Put on a gentle spirit.
Put on a mild and meek spirit.
Put on patience.
Allow others to fall and fail.
How do we do these things?
Love.
Above all else, love.
We are commissioned to love one another.
Today I pray the Lord helps me be humble, patient, kind, and lead with a gentle spirit as God fills my spirit with His.
May you find that as You offer grace and love to others beyond their faults and failures, the Lord will bless you and fill your spirit with His, so you are more than able to do these things.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for reminding me that a humble spirit is beautiful in Your eyes. Thank You for reminding me to put on a gentle, meek, mild, and patient spirit as I love others through their failures and faults. May Your love fill my soul, so I am able to love others more deeply and more generously. Lord, please walk with me today and help me put on a gentle spirit that can lift someone up. May my words be kind. Help me offer grace in all things today. Lead and guide me this day, Father. Keep my mind present with You. Thank You for all You do and all You are. Thank You for every blessing You have bestowed upon me and the family You have given me. May Your grace and mercy be upon me this day. Help me bless someone today. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM walking with you today and every day, My child, and I AM putting My Spirit in yours.
Response: Thank You, most gracious and merciful Lord.
