John 11:12, 14-15
“The disciples answered, Lord, if he is sleeping, he will recover.”
“So, then Jesus told them plainly, Lazarus is dead.”
“And for your sake I am glad that I was not there; it will help you to believe (to trust and rely on Me). However, let us go to him.”
Miracles helped the disciples believe in Jesus’s authority and power.
Miracles helped other people believe Jesus was the Messiah as well.
In fact, they asked for more miracles.
But Jesus knew which ones to perform and which ones not to.
Some of their hearts were hard, and He knew they could not be softened even with a miracle.
He did, however, choose resurrecting Lazarus from the dead.
He chose this miracle to help the disciples and those He loved to believe in Him even more.
He did everything He could do to increase their faith while He was alive, because He knew their mission once He was gone.
His perfect plan was being executed.
It was confusing to the disciples.
They didn’t fully understand Jesus’s words when He told them Lazarus was asleep.
And it wasn’t until He was ready to tell them Lazarus had actually died that they knew the whole story.
We don’t always receive a complete understanding or know the whole story either.
It takes time for the Lord to reveal His plan.
Time to reveal His wisdom to us.
Time for us to fully understand.
Until then, I must understand that my knowledge is imperfect and shallow.
I have to let go of the feeling that I need to be ‘in the know’ and simply allow God to work all things out according to His plan.
I must submit to God in every way knowing He
knows.
I must be obedient to His instructions for His
knowledge supersedes my own.
One day I’ll understand this whole puzzle of life but for now, I need to be content to be exactly where I am.
Today I choose to submit to the Lord and lean on His understanding and not my own.
May you find the Lord has a perfect plan for your life even though you may not perfectly understand the plan.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for showing me I can let go of needing to know everything. Thank You for showing me I need to let go of having to understand everything. Thank You for showing me You have a plan and that Your plan is perfect. Simply help me submit to You, Lord. Help me do the next thing You ask me to do. Do not let me put off or dismiss it. Help me do everything You have for me to do. Help me get quiet enough to listen and hear Your still small voice. And then help me act quickly and expediently to carry out Your instructions. Grant me courage, Father. Grant me strength. Heal my body, mind, and spirit so I can complete my mission here on earth. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM the Great I AM, and I have the perfect plan for you, My child.
Response: Help me walk into Your plan, Almighty God and merciful Father.
