Luke 12:7 and 25
But [even] the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not be struck with fear or seized with alarm; you are of greater worth than many [flocks] of sparrows.
And which of you by being overly anxious and troubled with cares can add a cubit to his stature or a moment [unit] of time to his age [the length of his life]?
These verses comfort our souls.
Fear is real.
It grips so many of us.
Especially in these uncertain days.
If I let it, fear can work its way into my mind and spirit.
If I let it, fear can deter me.
If I let it, fear can even go so far as to destroy me.
However, Jesus said don’t.
He said can, “Do not be struck with fear or seized with alarm.”
He said that no amount of being anxious and afraid can increase the length of our lives.
None of us enjoys being anxious or afraid.
When we find ourselves entertaining fearful thoughts, we must turn our thoughts to the Lord.
Every time.
We cannot let our minds take a trip on the fear roller coaster and expect pleasant results.
We must intentionally think on something else.
Turn to the God’s Word.
Meditate on God’s promises.
Read a Psalm.
Philippians 4:8 says, “For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].”
Let us fix our minds on the lovely today and surrender our worries and anxiety to almighty God.
He has all things worked out already for the battle is His.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for the wisdom in Your Word. Thank You for sending Your Son to teach us how to live. Turn our minds and hearts away from fear and anxiety and help us look to You and worship You. As we worship You, our spirits are lifted into Your presence. May we praise You as You deserve to be praised! You are Great and Mighty! Help us see the miracles that You continue to do in our lives and in this world. Don’t let us miss You, Lord. Keep our eyes on You, Lord. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I AM watching over you and your families. Do not be afraid.
Response: May we give our fears to You, almighty God and Father. In Jesus’ name, amen.
