Psalm 27:8
“You have said, Seek My face [inquire for and require My presence as your vital need]. My heart says to You, Your face (Your presence), Lord, will I seek, inquire for, and require [of necessity and on the authority of Your Word].”
King David knew the importance of seeking God.
He listened to the Lord as he was guided by the Great Almighty.
God told David to seek Him.
Not just seek Him but require the Lord’s presence as his most important need.
Our passage says to require the Lord’s presence as a vital need.
Vital means essential and all important.
There are certain things that are vital to our very existence.
We have organs that are called vital organs because they keep us alive.
Oxygen is also a vital need of ours.
Just as these are vital needs to exist, the Lord tells us that He is vital to our existence as well.
Sometimes I forget that the Lord is vital to my life in order for me to truly thrive.
As each day passes and tasks are required of me, I get caught up in the minutia of them.
They seem all important at the time.
I cannot seem to work my way out of them.
My mind is filled with so many things I must do.
And yet the Lord says that He is the One Who is vitally important to me.
Once again, the Lord redirects my thoughts, my mind, and my heart back to Him as I read His Word.
We can pray and ask for His presence in all that we do.
We can seek His presence inside of the minutia of our day.
He will come to our aid.
He will fill our spirit with joy as we do the tasks that we may not even like do.
He will cover us in peace.
He will direct our steps.
Today I choose to seek the Lord and His presence in all I do.
May you find the Lord’s presence as you seek Him today.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for directing us to You and Your presence. Thank You for reminding us we need to seek You as our vital need. Above all, help us fervently seek You. As the tasks and duties of this day are overwhelming, help us seek You first. Thank You for being available to us. Thank You for sending Your Son so we can come to You at any and every moment of the day, and You are there waiting for us. Thank You for quieting our souls and putting joy in our hearts as we move through this day. Lead and guide us every moment. We need You, Lord. We need Your presence today and every day. May You fill our spirit with love, peace, patience, compassion, and strength. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I AM with you, and I send My peace to you as I lead and direct your steps.
Response: Thank You, most gracious and loving Father. In Jesus’ name, amen.
