Psalm 27:13-14
“(What, what would have become of me) had I not believed that I would see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living!”
“Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.”
King David had a rich relationship with God.
God blessed David even as a young boy.
He found the Lord faithful to him as he shepherded his father’s flock.
Imagine spending all that time alone as a youngster.
But God used that time to show David His faithfulness.
And as God was faithful to David, David’s heart grew strong in Him.
Psalm 27:4 says, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
David did delight himself in the Lord.
He wrote songs of praise.
He wrote prayers.
And he danced to the Lord.
He continually called forth God’s Spirit into his life.
And He shows us how to do the same.
When we become complacent in our relationship with God, we can simply turn to the book of Psalms and become reconnected.
As I read this psalm, I was convicted to call forth God’s Spirit into my daily life so I, too, can experience God’s goodness here on earth.
Our passage tells us to, “Wait and hope for and expect the Lord.”
David also tells us to be brave, courageous, and patient while we wait.
And he reminds us to remain expectant as we wait.
No matter what our circumstances are today, we can wait expectantly on the Lord.
Today I choose to believe I will see God’s goodness here on earth.
May you find the Lord is merciful to you in all ways and His Spirit is alive in you today.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for King David’s psalms that remind us You are here with each of us. You could have remained distant as heaven and earth separate us, but You chose to draw us close to You. Thank You for sending Your Son to make this so. Draw us closer to You today, Lord. Help us feel Your Spirit within us as we move through the day. May Your gentle Spirit nourish ours. As many of us are weary, fill us with Your strength. May Your power help us do all You ask of us. Make the difficulties of this day easy, Lord. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I Am with you My child and My Spirit flows through you to enable you to do all I have called you to do.
Response: Thank You, most gracious and merciful Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
