Ephesians 4:2
Living as becomes you with complete lowliness of mind (humility) and meekness (unselfishness, gentleness, mildness), with patience, bearing with one another and making allowances because you love one another.
Paul encouraged the people at Ephesus in this letter.
His words encourage us today as well.
He writes that a humble spirit is lovely.
Allowing ourselves to be humble changes our demeanor.
It draws people to us instead of repelling them from us.
Paul writes that meekness is becoming to us Christians.
The Amplified Bible defines the word meekness used here as “unselfishness, gentleness, mildness.”
It seems more important now than ever to be unselfish.
Thinking of others before ourselves.
Offering grace to those around us.
Not making others wrong for how they feel as the world churns in chaos.
Paul tells us to be gentle.
Oh, if we could lead with a gentle spirit.
I am not always successful, but Paul reminds us that gentle is beautiful.
He also writes about patience; telling us to make allowances for one another.
Most of us are more vulnerable now than ever before.
When we recognize that others are having a difficult time too, offering grace comes more easily.
So, let us put on a humble spirit.
Let us put on a gentle, meek, and mild spirit.
Let us practice patience by allowing others to faulter and fail.
While all these things may seem wonderful in theory, is it really possible to put them into practice?
The Great Commission is the answer.
Jesus told us to love one another.
When we operate out of love, it is possible to put on a humble, gentle, meek, and mild spirit.
Today I pray the Lord fills me with His love so I can be humble, patient, kind, and lead with a gentle spirit.
May you find the Lord will pour His Spirit into yours so you can offer grace and love to others when they fail and faulter.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for Your Word that reminds us that a humble spirit is beautiful in Your eyes. Thank You for reminding us to put on a gentle, meek, mild, and patient spirit as we love others through their failures and faults. May Your love fill our souls, so we are able to love others more deeply and more generously. Lord, please walk with us today and help us put on a spirit that lifts others up. May our words be kind. Lead and guide us this day. Keep our minds on You, Lord. Thank You for all You do and all You are. Thank You for every blessing You bestow upon us and the families You have given us. May Your grace and mercy be upon us this day. Help us bless someone today. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I AM walking with you today and every day, and My grace is sufficient for you.
