Protect Us, Lord

Psalm 119:10
With my whole heart have I sought You, inquiring for and of You and yearning for You; O let me not wander or step aside [either in ignorance or willfully] from Your commandments.
Ignorance can be terminal.
When we are ignorant of danger, we find ourselves in difficult, if not impossible, situations.
Our children are perfect examples of this.
Their little lives are in constant danger about things they don’t know.
They don’t know when the stove is hot.
They don’t know the stairs can cause them harm if they fall.
They don’t know window wells are dangerous.
They don’t know the difference between the shallow and deep end of a pool.
The list of ‘they don’t knows’ is endless.
Their ignorance can lead to their total demise.
So, we are extremely vigilant in watching over them.
Just as we protect our own children, God protects us.
We need God to protect us from wandering away from Him.
There are so many distractions in our world which is just one of the enemy’s tricks.
He wants us to be so distracted that we can longer discern the voice of the Lord.
He wants us to be so distracted that we are too tired to care.
And he wants us to be so distracted that we become willfully antagonistic toward Almighty God.
The psalmist was wise to ask God to keep him from wandering away either willfully or out of ignorance.
Our prayer should be the same.
We can pray the Lord will watch over us and keep us from falling prey to the enemy.
We can pray for wisdom and discernment.
And we can pray for a soft heart to hear from God and a strong will to obey Him.
As we lean into the Lord, He protects us.
Today I pray God will protect me from my own ignorance and willful determination.
May you find the Lord will protect you from ignorance and disobedience as He holds you close to Him.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for Your protection. Thank You for protecting us from our own ignorance. Thank You for protecting us against our willful determination to wander away from You. You compass us about and lead us back to You. Lord, the world is full of distractions that take us away from You. Help us not become so distracted that we forget to seek You first. Help us seek You above the world’s empty promises. May we be diligent in reading Your Word. Keep us leaning into You, Father. Fill us with Your Wisdom. Help us discern Your voice and be obedient to You. Bend our will to Yours. May we delight in You all the days of our lives. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: I AM watching over you, leading, and guiding you. Nothing can snatch you out of My hands.
Response: Thank You, Almighty God and watchful Father. Amen
