Psalm 100:4
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name!
This month reminds us to be thankful.
The psalmist tells us why.
God created us to be thankful beings.
He created us for praise.
He created us to worship Him.
And we aren’t truly satisfied unless we are doing these things because that is how God designed us.
Our circumstances do not have to dictate our being thankful.
In fact, our circumstances can be quite messy and still we can have a thankful heart.
With Thanksgiving just a few days away, I feel a bit disheveled.
I’ve not planned the meal nor bought the necessary ingredients.
There are buckets of Christmas decorations in the living and dining room because I’ve been too sick to put them up.
I’m not even sure how I am going to put the meal together this year.
But my heart is still thankful.
Thankful the Lord gives us this season of joy no matter how my body is feeling.
Thankful He provides a warm home to rest and healthy food to eat.
Thankful He sent His Son to cover our sins.
Thankful He thought enough of us to create us and choose us to know Him.
Our psalmist reminds us that we enter God’s presence and are made whole as we give Him our thanks.
He reminds us we enter God’s courts with praise.
And He reminds us to tell the Lord, the most-high God, that we are thankful and bless His name.
So, no matter what our circumstances look like today, let us give thanks and praise to the One Who made us and chose us to be His.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for being the almighty God that You are! We praise You for You are greatly to be praised! May we enter Your gates with our praise. Flood our hearts with Your love, Father, and help us receive all we are able to receive. As we prepare our hearts and homes for Thanksgiving Day, may we keep our eyes on You. You are our Provider and Protector. You are our Maker and the Designer of our souls. May we serve You in all that we do today and throughout the week. Thank You for all You do and all You are. Help us bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing our prayer and our offering of praise.
Answer: I AM the Great I AM, and I receive your praise.
Response: May Your praise be ever on our lips. In Jesus’ name, amen.
